The holidays might look a little different this year thanks to COVID-19, but there’s one seasonal tradition you can still count on—Amazon Prime Day.
When lockdown measures took effect across the country back in March, Canadians increasingly turned to online retailers for their shopping needs. From February to May, e-commerce sales nearly doubled, reaching a record-breaking $3.9 billion in May, according to Statistics Canada. As the pandemic continues—and social distancing guidelines remain in effect—it seems likely that a great deal of holiday gift shopping will be done online as well, and savvy shoppers know that’s Amazon Special offers what Amazon Prime Day 2020 is all about.
The annual sale, which runs from October 13 at 3 a.m. EST through October 14, has always been a fantastic opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping list. With thousands of discounts across categories including electronics, toys and decor, finding that perfect present—for yourself and others—won’t be hard. The Prime Day sale will also extend to Amazon Canada’s new online storefront, which features a collection of products from more than 70 small- and medium-sized Canadian businesses. Customers can search by region or browse by themed categories, including women-owned businesses and makers. As always, access to the sale is limited to Amazon Prime members (a $79 membership fee grants you a year’s subscription, along with these benefits), but you can start a 30-day free trial and still browse the bargains.
